an old fencing foil recycled for the blade, a lathe turned black walnut handle, and a lost wax cast pommel which is the only part I'm really making

Putting Things Together

The blade has been cleaned and polished, the silver is cast and filed so that everything fits together. The pieces have been bonded to the handle! All that's left is setting the stones in the pommel. Altogether very impressed and happy.

Test Casting

We did a test casting shortly before Christmas in pewter. It came out very well. It will look fabulous in silver. Pictures should be getting posted somewhere soon.

The garnets are beautiful, a deep wine color. The length of steel (from an old fencing foil) for the blade has been cut down to size. And tonight I get to see the lathed black walnut handle. I am very happy.

Stones and Wax

Started carving the design today, since I ordered the garnets that will be going into the pommel.
